Body of Knowledge

Warren Buffett says, “Predicting rain doesn’t count, building an ark does”.

We are passionate about building a BODY OF KNOWLEDGE instead of random knowledge, which has a shorter shelf life. Our endeavour is to build a complete set of knowledge OR  a world of wisdom borrowed from the best.

We search for ideas from the books, websites, blogs, academic studies, media and any other public platform or resource. We go deeper into each of these concepts and ideas, refine them and share here as a small note.

Mostly borrowed from the best thought leaders such as Warren Buffett, Charlie Munger, Naval Ravikant and many others, we think about these profounding ideas, grasp them, discuss and debate, apply our checklists and models and, finally, like a brick, they find their place here in building the ARK known as LIFE.

OVERALL WELLBEING

NAVAL’S SUCCESS EQUATION

Life Formulas I

These are notes to myself. Your frame of reference, and therefore your calculations, may vary. These are not definitions – these are algorithms for success. Contributions welcome.

Happiness = Health + Wealth + Good Relationships

Health = Exercise + Diet + Sleep

Exercise = High Intensity Resistance Training + Sports + Rest

Diet = Natural Foods + Intermittent Fasting + Plants

Sleep = No alarms +  8-9 hours + Circadian Rhythms

Wealth = Income + Wealth * (Return on Investment)

Income = Accountability + Leverage + Specific Knowledge

Accountability = Personal Branding + Personal Platform + Taking Risk?

Leverage = Capital + People + Intellectual Property

Specific Knowledge = Knowing how to do something that society cannot yet easily train other people to do

RoI = Buy-and-Hold + Valuation + Margin of Safety

“The three big ones in life are wealth, health, and happiness. We pursue them in that order, but their importance is reverse.” – Naval

KNOW WHO YOU ARE? AND WHOM YOU ARE COMPETING WITH

“School, politics, sports, and games train us to compete against others. True rewards — wealth, knowledge, love, fitness, and equanimity come from ignoring others and improving ourselves.” –NAVAL

WHAT MATTERS THE MOST AND HOW TO NARROW DOWN CHOICES?

Warren Buffett once said, “When you get to my age, you’ll really measure success in life by how many people you want to have love you against how many actually do love you.”

“I know people who have a lot of money … but the truth is that nobody in the world loves them….That’s the ultimate test of how you have lived your life.”

PEACE, JOY, LOVE AND HAPPINESS

NAVAL RAVIKANT SAYS…

“We bought a new car. Now I’m waiting for the new car to arrive. Of course, every night, I’m on the forums reading about the car. Why am I doing that? It’s a silly object. It’s a silly car. It’s not going to change my life that much or at all. I know that the instant the car arrives I won’t care about it anymore. What it is, I’m addicted to the desiring. I’m addicted to the idea that this external thing is going to bring me some kind of happiness and joy and this is completely delusional”

“The idea you’re going to change something in the outside world, and that is going to bring you the peace, everlasting joy, and happiness you deserve, is a fundamental delusion we all suffer from, including me. The mistake over and over and over is to say, “Oh, I’ll be happy when I get that thing,” whatever it is. That is the fundamental mistake we all make, 24/7, all day long.”

HEALTH AND BODY

Naval says…

“To have peace of mind, you have to have peace of body first”

“My number one priority in life, above my happiness, above my family, above my work, is my own health. It starts with my physical health. Second, it’s my mental health. Third, it’s my spiritual health. Then, it’s my family’s health. Then, it’s my family’s wellbeing. After that, I can go out and do whatever I need to do with the rest of the world.”

RETIREMENT: WHY, WHAT, HOW AND WHEN

NAVAL’S 3 POINT CHECKLIST

  1. Passive income cross burn rate
  2. Bring down burn rate to zero
  3. Doing something you love to do

“The way to get out of the competition trap is actually to be authentic. The way to retire is actually to find the thing that you know how to do better than anybody. And, you know how to do that better than anybody because you love to do it.” –NAVAL

INCOME, CASH FLOW AND WEALTH

There are three important baskets for cash flows:

  1. Intellectual Properties:
  2. Assets
  3. Investments
  4. Savings

TEACHING AND EDUCATION

Naval

“The ideal school would teach health, wealth, and happiness”

PRODUCTIVITY, PROCESS AND SYSTEMS

FOCUS

“The ancient struggle used to be the tribal struggle…Modern life, we’re so free, everything has become atomized, we stand alone…The modern struggle as an individual is…drawing your own boundaries, and there’s no one there to help you.” — NAVAL
